Get up, prepare for action: getting to know our calling.

There is a never-ending slew of questions that run through my brain in a day. I’m sure you feel the same way. One HUGE question that I hear all the time is:

“What if I don’t know what my calling is?”

Well then my friend you need to get into your word more! What God calls us to do is pretty darn simple. So much so that its funny for me to think that I was ever so nervous about this question. You are not alone in asking it, I asked myself this question for far too long. Hopefully this will help you catch on much sooner than I did.

Jeremiah 1:17-19

“Get up and prepare for action.
Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say.
Do not be afraid of them,
or I will make you look foolish in front of them.
18 For see, today I have made you strong
like a fortified city that cannot be captured,
like an iron pillar or a bronze wall.
You will stand against the whole land—
the kings, officials, priests, and people of Judah.
19 They will fight you, but they will fail.
For I am with you, and I will take care of you.
I, the Lord, have spoken!”

See pretty simple:

1- Get up and prepare for ACTION!

Walking out our faith and being “christian” requires an action.

James 2:26

” Faith without deeds is dead”

2- Go and tell them EVERYTHING I tell you to say.

Again taking action! Say what God has told you to say, do what God has told you to do.  Pretty simple, however this is where most people get lost. I know I did.

“How do I know what God is telling me?”

John 10:3-4

After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”

We follow God because we know his voice. His voice is his word, His word is the bible. Know your bible and know God.

Digging into your word is where you start to hear God’s voice. Knowing the subtle, or not so subtle, ways he commands us.  Knowing the way God speaks in the bible is what is going to direct what you’re hearing.  They wont follow a stranger; they run from him because they don’t know his voice. We need to know what the bible says so that we live in HIS truth. How will anyone see the truth of the gospel if we don’t even live in it?

3- Do not be afraid of people.

People will come against us. BUT… Follow God and do what he says to do and don’t be afraid of what people think and he will make you strong. You will be a stronghold that cannot be captured, a wall that cannot be taken down! PRAISE GOD!

The avenue of how we do this will be individual for each of us, but the closer you get to God, the more you know his voice, you will know what to do.  He will lead you because you are his flock and you know His voice. You will not be lead astray by the enemy who comes to steal kill and destroy, you will be led by the one who came to bring us life more abundantly. You will stand in victory. There will be nothing that you do not have victory over.

When you change your mindset from someone who needs to figure everything out. Someone who can make things happen on your own, to that of someone who works with the power and authority of Christ. Then you will realize where your true victory comes from. We are children of God, who are co-heirs with Christ, because of that we have the same glorious inheritance.  Walk like it, live like it. Jesus did nothing outside of the father. He knew his voice with such clarity because he was communicating regularly with him.
